Annual Human Dignity Lecture: The Dignity of Human Gender
Tue Oct 24, 2017, 7:00PM - 8:00PM
Eck Visitor Center Auditorium
Location: Eck Visitor Center Auditorium
Sr. Prudence All, R.S.M., Ph.D. will lecture on key persons who contributed to the developing concept of woman in relation to man from ancient Greek philosophy to the present. Drawing from four communities of discourse: academic, religious, satirical, and humanist, Sr. Allen will makes the argument, using Newman’s criteria for a true development, that one theory about human gender is better than the others. This theory uses a descriptive metaphysics, is situated in a philosophical anthropology of gender reality, and has implications for ethics and political philosophy.
